WHY AM I STANDING FOR ELECTION?
I have become increasingly concerned with the lack of transparency in the way Bristol has been run in recent years and the seeming absence of consultation in the way we are being governed. I would like to see a more inclusive and representative Bristol City council.

WHY WILL I BE DIFFERENT?
I want to replace the one sided e-petition method currently employed by some by utilising the internet, email and post. I will give the people of Southville a real voice in how they respond. For example, asking the whole community if they really want permit parking, by asking everyone to vote. I want to advertise for opinions visibly via the net and on the streets and I want to collate the variety of responses I achieve—not just what I may want to hear.

You will be able to register your details with me via the website and I will provide a report following each council meeting I attend, consult with you before I vote on any council decision he I am called upon, so that he accurately represent the views of all my constituents.

Current Issues that are of concern

 Transport
I would liked to see the council introduce a working and affordable way for the public to get around before introducing any road toll or permit parking so we have a real choice in how we travel, not just a poor quality expensive bus service.

  Permit Parking via the Back Door
Wider consultation needed—Many people are currently unaware of the council’s plans to introduce permit parking in certain areas of Bristol, will Southville be included, how much will you have to pay, how much will your visitors have to pay?

 Youth Club
There is a need for young people and teenagers to have a safe environment locally to meet and grow as young adults.

 Local Elections—the current local election set-up seems inefficient, let’s have one election every 4 years this will be more environmentally friendly and stop our local politicians continually campaigning and allow them to get on with running our city.

 North Street Pedestrianisation
Major plan, major lack of public consultation so far.

 Housing
Where is the affordable housing, and where will our children live when they grow up?

 Southville Homezone Enquiry
Was this a fair use of money? Over £800,000 so far and less than 60 homes have benefited and when is completion due?

Lack of Transparency with unelected Community Groups having too much influence over the way We are being governed. we are a broad community with many diverse opinions and concerns but what is important is that we all have the opportunity to participate

You will be able to log on to the my website and vote if you are for or against the issues of the day, submit comments and be able to maintain your privacy, rather than having to use the public forums favoured by many of our councillors.
If elected we will need the support in printing and distributing small quantities of Jon’s emails and newsletters to constituents who do not have access to the internet.
